The New Zealand loan proved an unqualified success, which was largely due to the amount of- money available hero for investment and the attraction of a higher rate of interest. The tenders amount to £831,300 from the public. of which about a quarter of a million came from Sydney. ' Tenders at £101 16s and over will be alloted in full, whilst those at £101 15s 6d receive about 35 per cent. The underwriters will not be required to participate in the loan. Thorneman and Company were the largest contributors to the success of the operation, : having tendered for almost half the total sum subscribed.
