THE CHARGES AGAINST WILLIS.
Received February 13, 10.52 p.m. Sydney, February 13. The Government has. received confirmation of the statement concerning Willis' dismissal, which was on the ground that there was no evidence showing that the magistrate had powers similar to those of a Bow street magistrate, and that there was no local statute giving a magistrate special jurisdiction under the Fugitive Offenders Act. The decision is far-reaching, and creates a sanctuary of Natal until fresh legislation is passed.
