BOOKMAKERS & BETTING.

Sydney, May 21.

Consternation has been caused in sporting oircles by a decision of the Full Court with regard to cash betting. Some time ago a number of bookmakers were fined for betting in the saddling paddock at Bandwick, and a test appeal case was stated for the Full Court. The Chief Justice, in delivering judgment, said the essential law should be uniform in England and Australia, and the Court ought to follow a recent decision in the English Courts with regard to cash betting. The other Judges concurred, and the appeal was dismissed.
