Frozen Meat
Wellington, August 16. At & meeting of toe Parliament ry Committee on frozen meat this morning, reflations to tbe following effect were carried :— That i he Gove nment be asked to paEB a Bill which will enable the proposed company or Association to levy a tax per bead of sheep, and to take steps for taking over the exieting freezing works, and making arrangement* for tmloadirg meat in London and other parts of England, and distributing it there or else-* where. The Frozen Meat Committee has decided that tbe Conference shall meet on September 6tb, instead of the 27th met. In addition to tbe proposals already telegraphed, tbe Committee baa decided to submit to ihe Conferenoe tbst the proposed controlling oompany Bhall negotiate with the Bhipping companies as to freights, etc. ; to irispfct ships as to Boitabllity for the trade, and in regard to ineu'ation ; to concentrate trade in Great Britain ; to issue debentures for tbe purchase oi existing woikß and plant, shares to be allotted eaoh stockholder in proportion to the total amount of his paid-up cheep tax ; and tfaat a committee be appointed to carry out the above, with power to appoint a sub-com-mittee for eaoh Island.
