Snowed up in Wellington.
Wellington, AugUßt 16. 7 he search par.y from Carterton found Loader f•■ ozen to death where he was left. He waß a strong young fellow, and the only snppoit of his widowed mother. Bmith cays ibftt they were huddled tound n email fire and bad to Btay there bb the bdow was co thick they could not see where they were going. His trousers bad been torn away and he bad no bat. On Tuesday be became desperate, and waded throQgh snow to the armpits on to the main range. He had nothing" to fat since Sunday bight. Loader became exhausted, and Smith and Salisbury carried him until Smith himself collapsed. They left Loadtr covert d op with leaves, and made another attempt, but failed through exbaUßiion, and lay in the snow all night. Next day they managed to orawl to a house, Salisbury having to lift Fmith over tbe fence. This faooße was Knntsen's. He says that the men did' not lead him to believe tbat Loader waa critical, and he did not trouble muoh about him.
