ST. VI SCENT STREET DITCH.
To the Editor of the Colonic
Sir, — May I draw the attention oi the Oity Council, thro- gh your influential paper, to (he s; ate of this ditoh. I have resided W> I i'oi Toi Valley for about fifteen yesra. Whsn living above but on the same Bide aa tbb Girls' Schcol now sands, I had drain pipes put in at my expense, and under tha supervision of the City Couooil's Survejor, to fill up tbe drain there. Where I cow reside is on the eastern Bide of St Vincent s reet, and an open ditoh exists When tbe last heavy rains occurred boulders were brought down , from tbe higher part of the vail«y, which caused the flood to flow through my house, with the usual result — mud, mes?, and muok left. A similar trouble is lifeeb to occur unless the ditch is ole mod out at once, and there are a number of unemploye 1 to whom it would give a few days well spent employment, dbou'd our Couuoil not have funds for tbis much needed woik, I am willing to head a subscription list wth oue guinea, and to assist ia procuring otber dont»tioi s for it> being dona forthwith. You re, &c, Cecelia Clark. St Vincent stree?, August 9tb, 1895.
