The Charles Edward will arrive from Picton and Wellington about noon to-day, and :sail at 4 o'clock this afternoon for West ■Coast ports. The Murray left Kaikoura for Wellington last night. She will leave Wellington for Nelson this afternoon, and proceed to West-po-t to-morrow. The Kennedy sailed for Wanganui at 2 p.m ' yesterday. She will leave there for Kelson to night, should arrive here on t>mor<ow morning's tide, and sail for Wellington at 4 p.m. The Waverley will arrive from West Coast - ports to-morrow, and return to Westport at 3 p.m. The Lady Barkly sails for Motueka at 1.15 p.m. today. The Lily sails at 12.45 p.m. to-day for Motueka. The Mahinapua arrived from Wellington and North early yesterday morning, an - sailed at 3 p.m for Taranalci and Manukau. The Wainui will arrive from Picton and Wellington this morning, and tail at 2 p m for West Coast ports The Mawhera will arrive from West Coast poits to-morrow morning, and sail at 4 p.m for Picton and Wellington. A large shoal of porpoises came inside the harbor yesterday morning. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company" 1 in . addit'on to the new steamer Aotea, have purchased the Westmeath for the New Zea- $ land trade. The Westmesth is quite a new veEsel, haviDg been launched in 1893. She was built by Bwan & Hunter, of Newcastle- s on-Tyne, while the machinery was constructed by the Wallsend Slipway Company I Her dimensions are :— LeDgth 425 ft, breadth « 62ft 7in, depth 34ft, acd tonnage 6,200 t^ns ' The Westmeatb, on her maiden voyage from Melbourne to London, carried over 19,000 1 bales of wool. She is now beiDg fitted up to ( meet the requirements of the New Zealand trade, including reinsulation, and will be able to carry 95,000 carcases of sheep.
