N.Z. PARLIAMENT

(Per United Press Association.) Wellington, October 6. HOUSE. Late on Friday night several new clauses were added to the Native Land Court Bill, and the schedules were passed without amendment at 1.25 a.m. Toe House then went into Committee on the Licensing Bill. On clause 3, Mr McNab moved an amendment to provide that in case the sale of liquor was prevented by national option poll, the permission otherwise allowed to perfumers, chemists, etc, to use alcohol, should j cease. ' Mr Reeves looked on the amendment as tenselets, as it would prevent the use of alcohol for medicinal purposes. Mr McGowan, at 3.40, moved that the Chairman leave the chair, and sad he did co in order to dispose of the Bill for this session, as there was no urgency. Eventually this was lost. Sir Robert Stout raised the question as to whether, under Standing Order 170, Mr Buchanan was not wilfully obstructing, as he had spoken on almost every motion, and as a precedent cited the ruling of Mr Seymour on the Representation-Bill some years Bgo. Mr Guinness ruled that he did not think Mr Buchanan was within the order mentioned.

At 7.30 a.m Mr McNab's amendment wae carried by 20 to 18. Mr G. Smith then moved to strike out subsection 3 of clanee 3, in order that sellers of wine, cider, or perry from New Zealand fruit ia 2-gallon quantities might not be exempted from the Local Option poll. Considerable discussion followed, in the course of which Mr R. MoKenzie was repeatedly warned by the Chairman for repetitions and irrelevancies. Several members protested against being kept fjr 13 hours without food Mr R. McKenzia was then directed to discontinue his remarks, and the Ch&irman said it was for the Hous9 to take aotion. The Premier said he would not take the responsibility of making a motion, but he would tell Mr MoKenzie that he would not be permitted long to play with the Bouse. Ultimately progress was reported by 23 to 22. Tie Native Land Court Bill was repotted with amendments, which were ordered to be oensidered on Monday. The Licensing Bill waa ordered to be ag&in considered on Monday, and at 10.45 on Saturday morning the House adjourned till Monday evening.
