Presentation to Captain Fairchild.

Wkujngton, Dsoember 12. On board the Hinemoa last night, the Premier, on behalf of the passengers who were on the vessel on her reoent trip to Antipodes Island, presented Captain Fairchild with a ' number of valuable books. Mr Seddon said that he intended to give effeot to the recom* mendations made by Captain Fairohild as to placing finger posts on Antipodes Is'and, and a second depot will also be placed on thr Auokland Islands. It is understood that the Premier has commudicated with the Admiralty with a view of getting a warship to call at the Islands at intervals between the visits of the Hinemoa.
