DESTRUCTION OF GAOL BY LIGHTNING.

Washington, Ootober 19. During a viol sot storm on Iho East Ooaii of the United States, the lightning sot fire to the Baltimore Gaol. Five hundred and fotty-four prisoners were rescued, bat twenty were killed or injured in escaping from the burning building. Many deaths and mueta damage to property was reported elsewhere.
