No. 15.— The Hair. Coarse Hair indicates strength of body, robustness, power of influence, rudeness, lack of refinement that borders on vulgarity— which are greater as the hair is coarser, and 1 can consequently become more offensive. ' Fine silky Hair accompanies effeminacy, mentality, refined feelings and sentiments, 1 pliability and urbanity. ! Medium quality of Hair denotes fair refioe- \ ment, influence, intelligence, and usefulness, , with average character. Smooth, shiny Hair betokens unity, consistency, and homog'nity of character. Straight Hair denotes evenness of character and temper, with quietness, and generally slow movement-. Lank straight Hair indicates a poor organisation, of a .tail, set, and unimaginative character Wavy Hair betokens ideality, imagination, with a hopeful, lively, and cheerful disposition. ' Fine curly Hair denotes a sanguine dieposition, a hasty temper, great vivacity, and ; sprightly movements. Medium Hair, shaggy and curly, signifies 1 an uneven, variable character, generally in | extremes, full of ups and downs. Coarse Hair, shaggy and curly, denotes 1 powerful passions, hot tempered, rowdy disposition, and very uneven. Coarse black Hair, and skin to correspond, signifies great power of character, with strong tendency to sexual indulgence, and mos ly intensely selfish and strong willed. Fine black Hair, with skin to match, be- '■ tokens strength of character, with consideration of the rights and feelings of others, and 1 purity of thoughts and intentions. Stiff straight black Hair denotes a coarse, strong, rigid, but straightforward character. Medium quality black Hair indicates a strong frame, an intensity of feeling, with strong endurance, and a violent temper when roused, also a tendency to biliousness and its weaknesses. Brown Hair shows good wearing powers, an active mind, modeiately cheerful disposition, and mostly dependable. Red Hair denotes great ardour, passion, impulsiveness, zeal, hope, vanity, »and a quick temper. Auburn Hair betokens intellectual suscep. ; tibilities, a delicacy of constitution, and more or less inertness of disposition; ! Golden Hair is generally accompanied by physical nervousness, a laokaJaisical mind, as also with capriciousnes., and fickleness in love and friendship. Light Hair shows a sanguine, cheerful temper, not much bodily endurance for toil ' or fatigue, but full of life, elastic, and ready power of reouperation. Baldness about the brow show the intellectual powers have been muoh exeroisei. Baldness about the crown indio-tes that firmnes. or self esteem has been very much exercised, unless the baldness arises from physical oauees. An abundant Beard in a man accompanies a hairy body, showiog maulinesj, virility, strength, endurance, health. •A scanty Beard is a sign of weakness of constitution and of body, with feminine characteristics of disposition. A small, coarse, irregular Beard denotes a proud p .evish, and unsociable persoo. A well shaped Beard, and tbiok of hair, indioates good nature, a pleasant, loving, social, and companionable oharaoter, but rather too fond of the manly appendage. Men without Beards betoken a weak constitution, and generally a weak voice, with ; feminine characteristics. A Bearded woman denoteß a masculine ' nature and tendencies, with a deficieaay ia the higher womanly qualities, such as sym--1 patby, amiability, gentleness, and devotedness.
