A New Schookeb.—The Star of the Sea, Captain Bowden, has arrived in this port. She will be put on the coastal trade, and will be registered in Nelson. The s.s Alhambro, W. 0. Sinclair, commander, arrived at the outer anchorage at 11*45 a.m^on Saturday, and entered the harbor at 2 p.m, from Melbourne and West Coast. She left Hobson's Bay at 2 p.m on the 29th August, and cleared the Heads at 5*15 p.m ; passed the Sisters at 10 a.m on the 30th, experienced strong southerly gales nearly all the passage, and arrived off Hokitika at 4 p.m on the 3rd September; left at 10 a.m on the 4th, arriving off Greymouth at 12 noon; left at 3"15 p.m, and arrived here as above. She had 3 passengers and 14 tons of cargo for Nelson, and 52 passengers and 160 tons of cargo for other ports. She left again at 5 p.m same day for Wellington and Melbourne. The 83 Waipara, from Wellington, arrived here at 4 p.m on Sunday. The ss Kennedy arrived on Sunday morning, from Greymouth and Westport, having left the latter port at 8 a.m on Saturday. The s.s. TaraDaki, from Northern Ports, arrived ia harbor at 6 a.m yesterday. She loft again at 5 p.m for Southern Ports. The ship City of Auckland, Cuprain Kails, from London, arrived at Auckland .on September 2nd, after a passage of 107 days, during which some very tempestuous weather was experienced, having one day had every sail that was get blown out of the ship. She brought 30 passengers. The Poverty Bay Herald states that the whaling season on the East Coast has been urusually favornble, and the Ngatiporou Natives,in whose handsit for the most part lies, will reap a substantial return for their arduous exertions in this uncertain and perilous occupation. It is estimated that they have collected altogether about fifty tuns of oil.
