DtiNBDiN, May 27.

An opposition to Mr. Reid's Government has been formed under the leadership of Mr. T. L. Shephard. Mr. Brannigan has been deprived of the use of his right side, through a paralytic stroke. A fire at the Club was promptly extinguished, with but little damage. A caucus meeting of the Goldfields' members-of the Council has been held, and they have determined to insist upon a reconstruction of the' Government.

A fire toot place on Sunday at Winton township, when Messrs. Cross and M'Williaras's store was totally destroyed. They were insured in the Royal office'for £750, afld the property consumed was valued at £1303. •■ .
