The B.s. Mtjbbai, from West Coast ports, arrived at 1 o'clock last night. The s.s. Rakghoto, with the Suez English mail, wm to leave Melbourne on Saturday last, but had not arrived Xt Hokitika last night. Thb p.s. Nevada, from Honolulu, is due at Auokland ou Monday next, with the English mails. Thk s.s. Alhambba left Melbourne on the 16th instant, and called at Milford Sound on the 21st; remained there two day?, and arrived at the Bluff on the 24th. She has a large number of passengers. The ship James Kichol Fleming left Port Chalmers, for London, on January 22nd, with 5491 baleß of wool and 811 pkgs meats. The Majay ax WANGANr/i. — Direct trade between this port and England waß publicly inaugurated last evening by a dinner given to Captain Peters of the barque Malay, now lying alongside the wharf. W. F. Russell, Esq., of the Bank of New Zealand, occupied the chair, and J. P. Watt, Esq., occupied the vice-chair. The Odd-Fellows' Hall was the only room large enough to accomodate the number, between 60 and 70, who sat down to dinner. — Herald, January 20. >
