Wk (Straits. TimesJ^ have paper from. Manilla up to 22nd September. No'news of importance had transpired since our' previous dates at the commencement Of the month. Opthalmia, which has been prevalent for soms time past, showed no signs of abatement. > The general state of the people in point of health was anything but favorable; Heavy gales were prevalent m the early part of the month and on the evening bf the 7th ultimo, during a lull in one of the gales, a shock of earthquake was felt, which lasted, however, only for a few minutes. Trade is in general is very dull, but hopes of revival are entertained from the fact that considerable moneys are yet to be remitted for the Cochin-chi-nese expedition, all of which will be expended in the Manila market.
