CELEBRATION BALL
TE PAHU BASKETBALL GIRLS On Wednesday, September 6, Te Pahu Hall, gaily bedecked with greenery and bounteous spring flowers artistically arranged, was the scene of a celebration ball sponsored by the Te Pahu basketball girls’ team to celebrate the occasion of winning the Waipa Senior Reserve Cup. The evening was a marked success. Residents of the district and surrounding districts turned out in full strength to do honour to the teams and their coaches. The senior girls’ team coach, Mrs. A. Smith, was presented with a mirror as a token of esteem. The presentation was made by the captain, Mis.s M. Rowe, who, in a few well chosen words and crystal clear voice, thanked Mrs. Smith for her stalwart support arid coaching. For the junior team Miss P. Kelk, as captain, thanked their coach, Mrs. Goodwin, and asked her to accept a beautiful China cup and saucer as a token of appreciation from the team. Both coaches suitably responded. A poultry supper was served. Novelty dance.s were won by Miss J. Storey and Mr. Jim Charleston and Mrs. Adams and Mr. J. Charleston. Mr. P. Nicol, jnr., was M.C.
