HIGH PRICE FOR GRASS SEED Producing schedule price lists showing rises of from 25 to 30 per cent, in ,the price of grass seeds, Mr. N. C. Bodmin told Moirinsville sub-province of Federated Farmers that the Morrinsville branch wanted to know who was getting the extra money? He sponsored a remit, which was approved, urging Waikato province of the federation to investigate reasons for the increase. Mr. E. Christian (Tauhei), who formerly farmed in the Hawke’s Bay district, said merchants in the Auckland province were having a game with Waikato farmers. He quoted an instance where big money was paid for grass seed, which could have been bought elsewhere at 7s a bushel cheaper, rail paid. Mr. Christian claimed that .something be done in the Waikato in the direction of growing its own seed requirements.
