RAILWAY STATEMENT

TRAFFIC AND REVENUE FIGURES TE AWAMUTU, OTOROHANUA. AND OHAUPO The New Zealand Railways Statement for the year ended 31st MUrch, 1950, contains the following information in regard to traffic and revenue for Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, and Ohaupo railway stations. Te Awamutu sold 1999 first-class and 19,795 second-class tickets for a revenue of £10,437. Thirteen season tickets were sold for a rsturn of £9. Cattle and calves to the number of 49,865 were railed from the station, and 7209 were received; 176,844 sheep and pigs were sent out, and 77,567 brought in. Timber totalling 765,900 superficial feet was sent away, and 605,800 feet received. - Miscellaneous goods totalling 24,373 tons were railed outward, and 64,221 tons handled inward. Revenue derived from parcels, luggage, and mails amounted to £1215, and a sum of £62,381 was obtained as freight for miscellaneous goods- The total value of revenue forward was £71,515. Otorohanga At Otorohanga railway station a total of 21,704 passenger tickets was sold for £5633; eight season tickets were sold for £9. Cattle and calves numbering 23,869 and a total of 88,621 sheep and pigs were sent away, and 3703 cattle and calves and 28,767 sheeps and pigs were received; 394,800 supercial feet of timber were railed out, and 259,500 received. Other goods to a total of 31,654 tons were railed out, and 40,461 tons received. Revenue derived amounted to a sum of £49,094, of which £42,771 was for freight on goods and £634 for parcels, luggage, and mails. Ohaupo At Ohaupo railway station 558 passenger tickets were sold for a return of £245. Cattle and calves numbering 7044 and a total aof 2877 pigs were railed out, and 912 cattle and calves and 2846 sheep and pigs were received. No timber was sent out, but 23,300 superficial feet were taken in; 996 tons of other goods were sent away, and 6475 tons received.
