AVAILABILITY
STABILISATION FUNDS ILL-CONSIDERED REMARKS HEARD A motion of appreciation to the Hon. K. J. Holyoake was carried at last Thursday’s meeting of Te Awamutu Bobby Calf Pool following comments which were made by Mir B. C. O’Connor, chairman of the Pool. Mr O’Connor said that, notwithstanding the clear assurance given by the Prime Minister with reference to the availability of stabilisation funds, and also by the assurances given by the chairman of the Dairy Industry Marketing Commission, it was very much to be regretted that statements to the contrary were heard. Remarks were often passed by farmers in prominent positions in farming circles that the farmers’ funds had been spent and would not be available in lessfavourable times, and other ill-consid-ered and thoughtless comments that were a dis-service to the farming •community. Mr O’Connor said it was very reassuring to farmers and to all other people who had a balanced view of the Fiations’ Economy to read the statement issued by Mr Holyoake recently, setting out categorically how the various funds were invested and wheny they became available.
