Racing Broadcasts
“That the Minister of Broadcasting be informed that Presbytery wejlcome? his assurance that the matter of broßdcr.'t ng racing commentaries is under review,” was a motion carried at a meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery. “There appears to be a dispronortionate amount of publicity given over the radio to racing and other forms of gambling, which in the opinion of Presbytery can have only a detrimental effect upon our national character, and upon other forms of sport,” the motion stated. “Presbytery hopes that some effective measures will be taken as soon as possible to keep such broadcasting to a reasonable minimum.”
