CORRESPONDENCE

DOG NUISANCE Sir, —Both “Quiet Town” and “Quiet Sunday” are very unfortunate in having to reside in a locality where there are noisy dogs. There is, however, another kind of dog nuisance which many people have to put up with. I am referring to the fact that dogs of the breed mentioned by “Quiet Town” are allowed to roam unattended. So far I have not heard of anyone who has been hurt, but many people have a genuine fear of this particular breed, and if is only fair to children and pedestrians that these dogs be kept off the streets unless attended. These dog? need plenty of exercise so cannot be chained up. but if provided with a proper pen large enough for them to bound about in, yet high enough to keep them in, many minds, including that of the owner or owners, would be very much easier. Everyone likes to see people who love animals, and their choice of pets is their own concern. Why then, wait until someone is hurt before any precautions are taken. —I am, etc., “QUIET LIFE”.
