WOMEN’S DIVISION
TE AWAMUTU BRANCH The Parish Hall presented a gay scene at the November meeting, the occasion being the annual Flower Show, < sponsored by th'© W.D.U.F., with Mrs M. Bryant presiding over a large gathering of members and friends, the meeting opened with the Creed, followed by the usual business routine. The meeting decided to forward two 22ib food parcels to Mrs Allen Kay for distribution when she reached England. International Day was remembered, Mrs Godfrey giving a reading on Denmark, the country chosen for special reference this year. Results are as follows:—Pink rose, Mrs" Thomas 1; dark rose, Mrs C. North 1; light rose, Mrs D, Wyllie 1; collection of roses, Mrs McGhie 1. Stock, Mrs A. Kay 1; delphiniums, Mrs Alf Kay 1; sweet peas (6 blooms), Mrs A. Kay 1; gerbera, Mrs C. North 1; carnation, Mrs Wellington 1. Collection of 6 blooms, Mrs C. North 1; collection of vegetables, Mrs Thomas 1; centrepiece, Mrs S. Wyllie 1; tall vase , Mrs L. Eyre 1; shoulder spray, Mrs J. McFall 1; points prize, Mrs L. Eyre. Sponge cake competition was won by Mrs Coxhead, with Mrs Houston 2; gladioli, Mrs Ryan. Mrs Downes judged the decorative classes and the blooms were judged by Mr J. Marx. The judges in their remarks offered helpful suggestions -to exhibitors in the art of preparing exhibits for show purposes. The meeting closed with the singing of the Division song and afternoon tea served by committee members.
