LOCAL AND GENERAL

Unusual Juxtaposition Observant travellers to Auckland on Monday were given cause for a laugh in the vicin ty of Te Kauwhata.' Outside one of the fruit and vegetable selling stands was a notice “Hotdogs,” and underneath the notice was a real live dog. Strange as it may seem the dog was still there when travellers returned south. It was not tied up, and the juxtaposition of dog and notice was the cause of the laughter. Whether the dog was waiting for one of the delicacies called after his kind, or whether he was merely viewing the passing parade none could tell.

Invitation to Minister At a meeting of the Quarterly Board, representative of all the organisations of the Methodist Church Circuit of Te Awamutu, which was held on Monday evening,.the Minister Rev. Albert Jolly and his wife were unanimously requested to serve the Circuit in his capacity as Minister for a further term. The Senior Steward, Mt A. E. Bryant, J.P., in tendering the invitation, undoubtedly spoke for all Methodists in saying they were very fortunate in having a young couple of such ability and worth as the Rev. and Mrs Jolly in charge of the Circuit. Mr Bryant’s remarks were heartily endorsed by several other speakers. Mr Jolly’s acceptance of the invitation on behalf of Mrs Jolly and himself brought forth a warm round of applause.
