TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE Messrs G. W. Vercoe & Co. Ltd. report having held their tri-weekly sale at the Te Awamutu yards on Thursday last. The advertised yarding came forward in good condition and all classes of stock met ready competition. A good entry of sheep sold well, especially in the store sheep section, where store lambs and breeding ewes sold well. An average yarding of cattle met with keen competition and a total clearance was effected. Fat pigs were penned in large numbers and sold well, but store prices were slightly in favour of the buyers. Sheep: Fat and forward wethers up to 39s 9d, fat lambs 27s 6d to 33s 6d, medium fat ewes 35s to 395, top W.F. wether lambs 25s 6d to 28s, medium W.F. wether lambs 22s to 24s 9d, W.F. ewe lambs up to 275, 2-tooth wethers up to 39s 2d, medium 2-tooth ewes 33s 6d to 355, 5-year ewes 32s 6d to 35s 6d. Cattle: Heavy Jersey cows £9 15s to £lO 2s 6d, medium Jersey cows £7 10s to £8 15s, others £5 5s to £6 18s, 3year S.H. steers £lO to £l3 18s. Choppers up to £9 2s, prime heavy baconers £6 10s to £6 17s, medium baconers £5 15s to £6 Bs, heavy porkers £4 15s to £5 3s, light porkers £3 5s to £4 4s, best stores to £2 17s, slips to 325, weaners to 18s. AIRIA EWE FAIR Newton King report holding their annual Ewe Fair at Aria on Monday last, February 7. The yarding of 11,000 ewes came forward in splendid order, and bidding from a large bench °f bu / ers from the Waikato and other districts was keen throughout and sustained till the last pen. Values realised showed a rise on last year’s fair, and practically a total clearance was effected. Good four-year-old ewes realised up to £2 5 S 6d, two-tooth ewes to £2 15s 9d, and five-year-old ewes to 35s 9d. Quotations: Good 2-th ewes 45s 9d to £2 15s 9d, med. ewes £2 to £2 ss, 4-th ewes 40s 6d to 50s, 4-yr ewes 37s Bd to 45s 6d, 5-yr ewes 31 s to 35s 9d, older ewes 27s to 30s, cull ewes 21s to 255.

RABBITSKIN SALE The Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association of N.Z. Ltd. report a small catalogue of rabbitskins was offered to the usual bench of buyers early in February, when values for summer skins were lower by 5d per lb, while fresh season skins of racks and runners sold reasonably well.
