Hospital Rating At a recent meeting of the Te Awamutu Borough Council it was stated that a xarge measure of support had been accorded a remit sponsored by the council which is to be discussed at the Municipal Associations’ Conference to be held in Napier this month. To organisations supporting it is added the Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce which, at its meeting last night agreed to support the borough council in the matter. The remit, which deals with the collection of the hospital levy, reads as follows: “That the Rating Act be amended to allow local authorities which rate on the unimproved value and which desire to do so to levy the hospital rate un capital value.” A circular discussing the matter was tabled for the chamber’s perusal. Radio Publicity Disappointment with the amount of publicity accorded Te Awamutu by comparison with many smaller centres was expressed by Mr E. Freed, at last evening’s meeting of the Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce. Mr Freed suggested that arrangements be made to have a quarter- hour session devoted to the publicising of Te Awamutu and district when the new broadcasting station at Hamilton comes into operation. Mr H. Hawley, in supporting this suggestion said that Papakura had had a session of this nature on a commercial station, and it had been found that the town had been brought more to the public’s notice as a result of the broadcasts. It was resolved that the matter be referred to th-fe next meeting of the Retailers’ Association.
