THEFT BY MAORI GIRL
STOLE FROM FRIEND i FINE IMPOSED Maggie Thomas Herbert pleaded guilty and elected to be deal. with summarily when charged before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M. in the Te Awamutu Court yesterday, on a charge of theft of £1 in money, one torch and a ticket the total value of which was £2 13s 4d. Sergeant A. Bisset said Lnat the defendant stole the ticket which was one of admission to a circus and the other articles from another girl. Defendant was 20 years of age and had not previously been trouble. The defendant expressed sorrow at having committed the offence and said she would not do it again. She asked for the suppression of her name. A conviction and fine of £2 with an order for payment of Court costs 10s and return of the articles was imposed. The application for the suppression of the name was declined.
