FOOTBALL PHOTOGRAPHS

Sir, —Wishing to dispel a misapprehension which is likely to do a grave injustice to a businessman operating in this town I would be glad if you would give publicity to the following facts. Under the heading “Disclaimer” an advertiser in your columns draws attention to .the fact that his business is not connected with the production of photographs of representative teams of this Union which are alleged to have been unsatisfactory. This advertisement has its origin in a report published recently in the Courier of the proceedings at a meeting of the Management Committee of the Union. At this meeting it was decided that, because of the unsatisfactory attendance of players on the occasion on which the photographs were taken, the photos would not be

recognised as official photographs of the Union’s representative teams for the season just ended. It is regretted that the Union’s scribe in forwarding to your paper his account of the proceedings, did not make this point clear and the report makes it appear that the photographs themselves were unsatisfactory. In actual fact, to state that the photographs, as such, were unsatisfactory is the reverse of the truth. The proofs which were submitted to the Union by the studio ) responsible for the production of the photographs reveal photography of a high standard and, had there been a greater number of players present, the Union would have been proud to have the photos titled as those of its representative teams. Because I > believe that there is a danger that a reputable business may suffer because of our mis-reporting of what trans" pired at the meeting concerned, I would deeply appreciate your making space available to bring these facts before your readers. I understand that enlargements of the photographs concerned will shortly be on display in the town and your readers will be able to judge for themselves the quality of the workmanship which has been put into them.—l am etc. R. S. SINCLAIR, President. Te Awamutu Rugby Football Union,
