WIND UP OF THE SEASON ALL-DAY TOURNAMENT During the week on Kawhia Golf Club’s links the semi-finals of the captain’s trophy were played, results being as follows: A. G. Goodwin beat B. Purser, 2 up; N. G. Lentfer beat L. Meredith, 1 up; W. O’Connor beat J. McKibben, a up. The ladies’ final of the captain s trophy was played on Wednesday last and resulted in a win for Mrs W. T. Lentfer from Mrs E. M'. Scott by a margin of 2 up. The Club held a very successful allday tournament on Sunday, 10th instant, to wind up the season for the year 1948. The results were as follows:

Men (played over 27 holes): Mornin<r nett over 9 holes, N. G. Lentfer, 44—:9 —.35; all-day nett over 27 holes, T. Humnhrey, 154—.54—.100; all-day gross over 27 holes, I. Davies, 105; stableford over the last 18 holes, W. O’Connor, 36 points. Ladies (played over 18 holes!; Morning nett over 9 holes, Mrs I. Davies, 52—19—33; all-day nett over 18 holes Mrs L. Meredith 89—22—67; all-day gross over 18 holes, Mirs W. T. Lentfer, 89; stableford over second nine holes. Miss P. Nicholas, 17 points. Mfrs L. Meredith actually tied for the all-day gross, and won both the allday nett and the stableford, but for equal distribution any player was allowed one trophy only. The final of the captain’s trophy for men was fought out between A. Wt O’Connor and N. G. Lentfer to the 21st hole, when a faultless bogey five gave the victory to N. G. Lentfer. Special prizes were won by A. J. Goodwin and W. W,. Davies. The season was wound up by a grand ball, largely attended, held Ward’s Hall last night. The report thereof will appear in a later issue.
