WEDDING

' MIDDLEBROOK—O’BRIEN A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church on 16th September when Patricia Cecelia, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs M. J. O’Brien, Wharepapa, was married to Nelson John, elder son of Mr and Mrs N. V. Middlebrook, of Fraser Street. Rev. Father Ryan performed the ceremony, and Mrs C. Linehan was organist. A solo was sung during the signing of the register by Mr C. Linehan. The church was beautifully decorated with magnolias and lilies by friends of the bride. The bride entered the church accompanied by her father. She wore a gown of self embossed cream satin cut on simple lines, featuring a tight-fitting bodice and very full skirt falling to form a train. From a headdress of flowers, her beautiful full-length veil fell to form a second train, and she carried a trailing bouquet of cream flowers. She was attended by her sister, Mrs Martin Ryan, who wore a frock of pink embroidered marquisette cut on similar lines to that of the bride. Her headdress was a spray of toning flowers encircled with pink net, and she carried a posy of pink and white flowers. The two flowergirls, Patricia and Carolyn Ryan, nieces of the bride, were pink embroidered marquisette featuring tight-fitting bodices allied to very full skirts. They carried Victorian posies of toning flowers and in their hair they wore circlets of pink flowers held in place with pink stiffened net.

Mr Gordon Hopcroft was the best man and the ushers were Messrs Brian Middlebrook and Kevin O’Brien.

After the ceremony the bride was presented with a horseshoe by her little nephew, Peter Ryan. The reception was held at the Regent Lounge, where the guests were received by Mrs O’Brien: She wore a black suit relieved with white, and a white shoulder spray. Mrs Middlebrook chose a Marina blue frock with navy accessories and a blue and red shoulder spray. The bride travelled in a beige suit with burgundy accessories when Mr and Mrs N. J. Middlebrook left for their honeymoon. Their home is at Kihikihi Road. Te Awamutu.
