Sister Mavis Paterson, Deaconess at the Ashburton Presbyterian Church for five years, has received a similar appointment at Hamilton from next February. Mr W. S. Goosman, M.P., has been appointed a member of the Select Committee of the House of Representatives, who will go into the question of the abolition of the Legislative Council. Mr D. B. Livingstone, formerly of Tuh’karamea. and a member of the Waipa County Council for several years until he retired to live at Tav*anga. has been nominated for the borough council elections in that town. Mr and Mi s J. Foote, Mahoe Street, Te Awamutu. announce the engagement of their second daughter, Olga to Ronald, son of Mrs Fletch- ■<*. Stoddard Road, Mount Roskill, Auckland, and the late Mr F. G. Fletcher.
