The guest of the evening was the recipient of many good wishes and birthday greetings. Several toasts associated with such an ' vent were proposed and acknowledged in the usual time-honoured rus’em. An item of no small measure was the task nf lighting the large number of candles displayed on the beautifully iced birthday cake. An evciiiiig spent in cards, competrtious and musical items passed all too quickly. The serving of a tasty ■ upper brought to a close, one more memorable occasion.
