HUNTING SEASON

Looking away to the south one could see thousands of acres of beautiful farm lands dotted with- trees and their homesteads. The various coloured trees relieved with autumn tints and a glimpse of the old historic church at Kihikihi completed a scene that would have been a fitting subject for a Landseer. The hunters, led by the Master, Mr R. Weal, had some good sport over an interesting number jumps. There were forty-one horses in action, and as the Master stated later they had had a good run with some good jumpers in evidence. At the close afternoon tea was served, and Mr Weal in thanking Mr and Mrs Spiers for the privilege of hunting over the property and for attending to the catering, said they had had a good run and while there was some good jumping, he cautioned some of the riders against racing over the jumps, especially the riders of cobs.
