NGUTUNUI NEWS

On Saturday, May 6, a delightful children’s party was held at the home of Mr and Mrs E. S. Mackay, of Ngutunui, in honour of their eldest daughter, Rosemary,’who had reached her 11th birthday. The large dining table had been beautifully arranged by Mrs Mackay, with all sorts of goodies to delight the eyes of children. Rosemary, after cutting the lovely birthday cake, made sure that all her little guests were offered a piece, and attended to them excellently. The latter part of the afternoon was spent in games for the children, Mr Mackay making a very efficient games master.

On Saturday night, May 13th, the Ngutunui Hall was filled to capacity once again, excellent dance music being supplied by Macquire’s Orchestra. Visitors from Auckland, Otorohanga, Te Awamutu and Pirongia, also several American servicemen and partners were present to participate in the night’s entertainment. Mr T. Tamaki carried out the duties of M.C. very efficiently, the Monte Carlo being won by Miss G. Tata and partner. After an enjoyable supper the dancing continued until 12 p.m., when everyone joined hands for the singing of Auld Lang Syne, concluding with the National Anthem. Miss L. Crabb is visiting relatives in Hamilton during the school vacation.

Mrs R. Knuth and family are visiting relatives in Taumarunui. Mr and Mrs R. Ormsby left on Saturday- to visit friends in Pukekohe.
