JE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE Messrs Dalgety and Company report that there was a large yarding of all classes of stock at their sale in Te Awamutu on 4th May. Competition for fat bullocks and fat sheep was spirited, and owing to the rise in the schedule for pigs baconers were in keen demand. A line of prime Shorthorn bullocks from Mr D. Moorhead, of Te Kawa, realised £l4 10s; Messrs Newcombe Bros, entry of Polled Angus bullocks made £l2 10s; and Tokanui Mental Hospital’s entry of Polled Angus bullocks brought to £l2 10s; Messrs Yates and Company’s entry of Polled Angus cows and heifers realised £8 7s to £8 15s. Quotations are as follow:

Sheep: Fat wethers 25s 6d to 29s 6d, fat lambs 29s 9d to 31s 3d, medium 24s to 27s 3d, lighter 21s to 23s 6d, fat ewes 15s 6d to 20s 6d, store lambs 13s 6d to 16s, small lambs 10s to 13s, cull ewes 4s to 10s lOd, quality ewe lambs 15s 4d to 18s 6d.

Messrs Newton King Limited and Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Company Limited report as" follows on their fortnightly sale held at Te Awamutu on Monday last, when a fair yarding of fat lambs was penned, together with a good yarding of boner cows and the advertised lines of dairy eattle. Lambs sold well at schedule rates, and a good sale resulted for boner cows.

A good entry of dairy cattle included the advertised line of Jersey heifers on account of Mr John Jamieson, which came forward in excellent condition and showing well forward in calf. Keen competition was experienced throughout, and a good sale resulted.
