WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

KIHIKIHI BRANCH The Kihikihi Women’s Institute held their usual monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 2, Mrs Haines presiding over a fair attendance. The meeting opened with the Institute Song and Aspirations, after which the Dominion President’s letter was read. Mrs Hawkin’s report on the Annual Federation meeting was received.

A roll call, “How to keep a sick child happy,” brought forth many useful suggestions. A W.E-A. pamphlet on the Life of Madam Curie, scientist, was read by Mrs Wynyard. It was decided to hold \an afternoon for members’ children on Tuesday, May 16.

Competitions were won by the following: Room competition, Mrs Cran; sultana loaf, Mrs Colville 1, Mrs Allen 2; apron from something old., Mrs Raine 1 and 2; vegetable, Mrs Raine 1; flower, Mrs Haines 1, Mrs Allen 2.

Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Hawkins and Allen, while Mesdames Wynyard and Henderson acted as judges for competitions.
