TE AWAMUTU ASSOCIATION GROUP IN OTOROHANGA The July meeting of the Executive of the Te Awamutu Veterinary Association (Inc.) was held on Monday last at Messrs Armstrong and Kelly’s office, Mr W. J. Hodgson presiding. Also present were Messrs H. R. Clarke, C. J. Flay, G. R. Lawry, the veterinary surgeon, Mr M. E. Dodson, the secretary, Mr R. F. Armstrong, and Mr R. Davis, Otorohanga. A financial statement "covering the period since the forming of the Association was tabled by the secretary and disclosed that subscriptions are coming to hand very satisfactorily and that the finances are on a sound basis. Mr Dodson reported on his work during the month, stating that he had had 161 calls, the total mileage covered being 1576 miles, and 100 cases being attended to made up of 68 cattle, 21 horses, 8 dogs, 2 sheep, and 1 pig. A point that arose for discussion was the case of a member who called the veterinary surgeon and then cancelled the call as the animal had recovered. It was decided as a general rule that provided calls were cancelled within a reasonable time no visit fees would be charged. Members are to be circularised and advised the best and quickest method of getting in touch with the veterinary surgeon. The extension of the Association’s activitieg to the Otorohanga district was then discussed and the chairman reported on the result of an inaugural meeting held at Otorohanga at which there was an excellent attendance of farmers. Mr Davis had been appointed as the Otorohanga farmers’ representative, and satisfactory arrangements have been made whereby a group will be formed in the Otorohanga district under the auspices of the Te Awamutu Association.
