HOME GUARD TRAINING

Sir, —As a returned soldier of the 1914-18 war, who would like to be prepared to do his share in the event of New Zealand being invaded, but finds it difficult to attend local Home Guard parades owing to distance, shortage of labour, and a slight, deterioration in physical ability, I should like to suggest that it should be possible for anyone living over five miles from a centre to go to camp for- ten days or a fortnight’s general training in the off farming season. This would save benzine, and, I think, would add to efficiency, as most Home Guardsmen so situated are irregular in their attendance, which makes it impossible to get efficient training.—l am. etc.. 11/649.
