He was one of the original settlers of the Kio Kio Block when it was thrown open for selection in 1904. The late Mr Cooper was a member of the first Otorohanga County Council, and at to-day’s meeting of the Council the chairman, Cr V. W. Simms, expressed the regret all felt at the passing of one of the earliest settlers who had made the district the excellent farming centre it was to-day. A resolution expressing appreciation of the services rendered the Council by the deceased, and sympathy with Mrs Cooper and family in their bereavement, was carried, all members standing in silence.
