WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
TE KAWA BRANCH MONTHLY MEETING Miss Alderson presided over the April meeting of the Te Kawa Women’s Institute, held for the first time at Te Kawa West at the home of Mrs W. R. Burton on Wednesday, Ist April. There was a good attendance of members and several visitors, who were cordially welcomed by the President. After the singing of the New Zealand Anthem, followed by the short prayer, the business of the meeting was dealt with. A donation for soldiers’ parcels was gratefully received from the Te Kawa Tennis Club. An outline of the programme for the next group meeting to be held in Te Awamutu on April 30 was given by Mrs Chestnut. During the afternoon all members were busy with war work, making dressings and bandages for the local Home Guard, or knitting for soldiers overseas. While members sat and worked, a most interesting letter from a soldier overseas was read by Mrs J. Henderson. Afternoon tea, served by the hostesses, Mesdames Wallis and Burton, brought a pleasant and industrious afternoon to a close.
