MAKING MUNITIONS
THE TE AWAMUTU OFFER EARLY CONTACT PROMISED Last week, it will be remembered, the Mayor (Mr L. G. Armstrong) telegraphed Mr G. H. Jackson, general manager of the Ford Company of New Zealand, who was lately Controller of Production, stating that Te Awamutu had the finance, plant and technicians and would welcome an urgent visit of a Departmental officer to enable local efforts to go into useful stardard channels for the making of defence and aggressive weapons. On Saturday last, Mr Armstrong received the following reply:'— Many thanks for your telegram. I have discussed your request with the Controller of Munitions, who will advise you when early contact can be made.
