GUARANTEED PRICE

AN INCREASE DESIRED DAIRY ASSOCIATION’S PLEA SEQUEL TO WAGES ORDER An increase in the guaranteed price for dairy produce was advocated at a meeting yesterday in Hamilton of the South Auckland Dairy Association. The meeting was thoroughly representative of all companies in the district. Mr S. A. Ferguson presided. After considerable discussion the following resolution was carried unanimously:— “That this meeting of members of the South Auckland Dairy Association, having given long and serious consideration to the effect upon the dairy farming community of the recent Arbitration Court order increasing all wages, and of other increases in costs that have accrued since 1936, the Dairy Industry Council be requested to make urgent and strongest representations to the Government for an immediate increase in the guaranteed price, and that failing a satisfactory reply from the Government the Dairy Board be requested urgently to call a Dominion conference of representatives of those interested to discuss what further action shall be taken in the matter.”
