COMMISSION WON
PILOT-OFFICER A. SCOTT Cable advice has been received by Mr and Mrs W. Scott, of Lucken’s Road, Hobsonville, that their second son, Allan Ray Scott, has qualified for and been granted a commission in the Royal New Zealand Air Force overseas. Pilot-Officer Scott received his early education at Paterangi and Kawhia schools and later the Auckland Grammar School. He was a member of St. David’s Presbyterian Church Boy Scout troop. Twelve months ago he qualified at the Auckland Teachers’ Training College for a position as physical education instructor, and before entering the Air Force in July, 1941, was teaching in the Hamilton district. In these days when we are witnessing a bond of unity among the nations of the British Commonwealth readers may be interested to note that Pilot-Officer Scott’s great-grandfather was an early colonist in New Zealand from Canada, and took up land at Paterangi in the early ’Sixties.
