At a meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board at Hamilton yesterday, it was reported that the Director-Gen-eral of Health had advised that there was little likelihood that an application to the Government, asking, it to erect the infirmary block at the Waikato Hospital and hand the building over to the Board at the conclusion of the war, would be favourably entertained. As an alternative, however, the Government would consider whether or not special grants should be made toward the .provision of hospital accommodation for the Armed Forces in certain districts., The chairman (Mr F- Findlay) remarked that there was still some reasonable prospect of the Board obtaining a substantial grant toward the cost.
