HEADLIGHT GLARE
BLACKOUT ANOMALY - While tne black-out is being enforced with increasing strictness in Te Awamutu, many persons are expressing curiosity as to why motor cars are allowed to travel by night burning glaring headlights which light up the whole countryside. It is certainly a remarkable anomaly to say the least of it. This matter called for some comments by Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., at Auckland when dealing with breaches of the lighting regulations, and his remarks can be applied with force and cogency to Te Awamutu. “Some of these headlights,” he observed, “are almost searchlights and must be visible from beyond the gulf limits. I think the authorities should look into this matter urgently. There is nothing like glaring anomalies of this nature to break the spirit of cooperation of others.”
