WAIPA GUN CLUB
TO GO INTO RECESS THE PRESIDENT’S REPORT At a general meeting of the Waipa Gun Club on Wednesday evening, the President (Mr H. L. Marsh) occupied the chair and presented the following report:— “In presenting to you the report of the Waipa Gun Club for the past year, I wish to thank the members of the Committee and other members for the support they have given me. Our membership has decreased mainly through members serving overseas, and the inability of the country members to attend owing to Home Guard duties. I would like to express my appreciation to the members of the Te Kuiti Club for their support during the past year, for without that support our shoots would have been small. I would, on this occasion, express my thanks to Mr W. H. Parish for the use of the grounds, and to Mrs Parish for her kind services during the season. To our members serving with the Fighting Forces I wish them all the best of luck and a speedy return. As you all know during the year the club made a donation to the Red Cross funds, and also forwarded parcels to our members overseas. To our many donors, too numerous to mention, I would express my thanks for their trophies during the year. In conclusion, owing to benzine restrictions, I think it advisable to suspend our shoots this coming year, and conserve our assets until such time the war situation will permit. I would also thank Mr R. Trimble for the donation of trap control shed. The meeting decided to adopt the suggestion of the President and to go into recess; the surplus funds to be placed in a trust account at the Post Office Saving’s Bank.
