BUTTER-FAT
A NEW REGULATION WEIGHING FOR PAYMENT The main purpose of an amendment to the Dairy Produce Regulations, 1938, gazetted at Wellington last night, is to ensure that as far as possible suppliers to dairy factories are credited with and paid for all butter-fat contained in supplies delivered by them for the manufacture »f dairy produce. ’ The weight of milk must be recorded at the nearest pound to its exact weight. The weight of cream must be recorded at the nearest half-pound to its exact weight; and where the weight is an exact number of quarterpounds it must be recorded in favour of the supplier at the next quarterpound above its exact weight. Where the butter-fat test for milk as read from the test bottle is an exact halfof .1 per cent it must be recorded in favour of the supplier at the next .1 per cent above the actual reading. Where the butter-fat test for cream as read from the test bottle is an exact half of 1 per cent it must be recorded in favour of the supplier at the next 1 per cent above the actual reading.
