LIGHT HORSE

TE AWAMUTU ASSOCIATION. TO-MORROW’S GREAT EVENT. Final arrangements for to-morrow’s point-to-point steeplechase races, to be run on Mr Gordon Walker’s property at Parawera, were made at a meeting of the committee of the Te Awamutu Light Horse Association last night. The chairman (Mr J. A. Johnson) reported that a handsome selection of trophies had been donated and these will be on display this afternoon and evening in the display windows of Fanthorpe’s Limited. Everything points to a very successful gathering and the public, who are cordially invited to attend, may rest assured of a good afternoon’s sport, while the patriotic fund should benefit considerably. The committee have arranged for a loud speaker equipment, so that a running commentary on each event will be broadcast. The members •of the Women’s Auxiliary are assisting with the catering, so that light refreshments will be available on the ground.
