OBITUARY
DAVID YOUNG. The death took place on Tuesday last of a well-known and highly respected resident of Hairini in the person of David Young. Born in Scotland 74 years ago, the late Mr Young, at an early age, followed a farming occupation on the property of his father, who was a sheepfarmer. Thirty-three years ago, he and his wife and family came out to New Zealand, first settling at Horahora and then, 24 years ago, coming to Hairini, where he had successfully farmed ever since. Of a retiring disposition, the late Mr Young did not participate in any public activities, but among a host of friends was noted for his sterling worth and many esteemable qualities. He is survived by his wife and Miss Mary Young, who reside at Hairini, and by Mesdames E. Hodgson (Jackson Street, Te Awamutu), A. E. Bryant (Tiki Farm, Kihikihi), and B. Walker (Rotorua) and Mr David Young (Matamata). The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, when the Rev. J. Pattison performed the last sad rites.
