NEW WORLD ORDER

CONDITIONS THAT WOULD MAKE IT POSSIBLE. ADDRESS BY DR KOO. The youth of the whole world was deeply concerned at present as to what was going to happen after the war, said the travelling secretary of the World Student Christian Federation, Dr T. Z. Koo, speaking to an audience of nearly 3000 people at a youth rallyin Wellington, under the auspices or the Wellington Christian Youth Council. In his travels in various parts of the world Dr Koo said he had noticed a growing enthusiasm on the part of youth to bring about a better order, and the special message he had for young people in New Zealand was that a more peaceful world (order would never be brought about merely by thinking peace, but by conscious effort toward making peace. “ It is not sufficient just to wish for peace,” he added. “We must remember that Christ did not say ‘ Blessed are the peace-wishers,’ but ‘ Blessed are the peace-makers.’ How many of us are really peace-makers in the sense of creating those conditions that make peace possible ? ” The youth of the world was conscious to-day that the crisis which was making many people slaves must eventually lead to a new world order. The precious heritage of Christianity was becoming more prominent in their minds, and they were realising more than ever before that, as Christians, they must learn to love their fellows, and that all men must belong to each other. Some of the conditions Which would make world peace possible Were the sharing of the world’s natural resources, the building up of bettersocial conditions, and the creating and maintaining of good- fellowship and trust among nations. | “ How I hope that all the young people of this country, m|y country (China), and all the countries of the world will work toward this great move for international peace,” said Dr Koo. “As young people working for the future, please remember that we, as Christians, must not only work to attain the visible and physical things that go toward making peace, but also to attain the spiritual things. A wise man builds his house on a foundation of rock, and his house stands firm against the ravages of tempest and rain. Similarly With this building up of a better order for the world of the future. The foundation of rock is our Christian faith. Let the power of peace be built on a foundation of rock the rock of Christ.”
