The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, and Lady Newall, will arrive in Hamilton this evening, returning to Auckland to-morrow. His Excellency will open the Waikato Winter Show at 2.30 o’clock to-morrow afternoon. Mrs Ben Candy, of Young Street, is at present on a visit to Devonport. Mrs K. Mossman, of Otorohanga, has returned home after a three months’ holiday in the South Island.

Mrs R. L. Beamish, who has been visiting Auckland as the guest of her sister, Mrs T. Little, of Ponsonby, returned to town at the week-end.

Mrs T. C. Wallis, who. has been the guest of Mrs L. C. Day, of Mangapiko, has returned to her home a* Cambridge.

Mrs H. F. McClymont, of Te Awamutu, has recently received cabled advice that her husband, Captain R. B. McClymont, is safe and well.

Second-Lieutenant K. E. Louden, Ist Battalion, Waikato Regiment, is granted the temporary rank of lieutenant, according to a Gazette notice.

Mrs W. Ryan, of Mangapiko Street, received cabled advice during the week-end that her son, Corporal W. J. (“Bill”) Ryan, is safe and well.

Sergeant - Major Instructors W. Tootill and W. J. Tucker, who have been attending a refresher course at Narrow Neck, returned to Te Awamutu on Saturday.

Mr and Mrs H. L. Marsh, of Mahoe Street, received a cable to-day from their son Alfred reporting “ All well and safe.” He had apparently been in the operations in Greece.

At the annual meeting of delegates to the South Auckland Bowling Centre, held at Hamilton, Mr T. Grant, of Te Awamutu, was elected, to the executive.

Mr and Mrs John Cavanagh, of Ohaupo, received word to-day that their son, Daniel, who had previously been reported missing, is now known to be “safe and sound.”

Dr Keith Vautier, son of Mr C. A.. Vautier, of Hamilton, has passed the examination for the degree of M.R.C.P. (London). He has been in England for several years studying medicine.

Miss Margaret Macky, of Matamata, who has been spending a holiday in the South Island, is at present staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs S. C. Macky, Paterangi, before returning home.

Olsen, whose wife is Edna, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. J. Taylor, of Racecourse Road, have been posted as “ missing ” as the result of operations in Greece.

There was a representative attendance at Mangapiko, when advantage was taken of the opportunity to present the local Sunday school teacher Mr Bert Dixon, who is about to leave for service overseas, with a hold-all, the gift coming from the pupils and being made on their behalf by little Miss Tamaki. A very pleasant evening was spent in games, while items by the children were much enjoyed.
